Hi, my name is Adam. I live in San Jose, CA. I have eight years of experience caring for my grandmother.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I always had to caregive for my grandparents on my mom's side and my dad's side since I was 14 years old. I'm 27 now, so this is like a field I want to get into.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice for a new caregiver is just to be loving, caring and have patience with the person that you're caring for. Always build a relationship with the person you're caring for, make sure that you make them feel good about themselves, have fun exciting times and always create new ways to make them happier.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
The only client I ever had was my grandmother. The most memorable times that I had with her is taking her out to the senior citizen center and let her play bingo and interact with other people, just seeing after she came out that she's happier and not worrying too much about other things.
