Hi, my name is Alhassandra. I live in Las Vegas, NV and I've been a caregiver for four and a half years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because both my parents did it. And it was just something that I felt like I always wanted to do. I was watching my mom take care of her mother, and her aunt, and stuff. So I feel like it was just on me growing up. Then I went to a technical school and I studied it. I went to school after high school and I got another certificate for it.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, just do not be nervous, to follow all the rules that they showed in school and all the techniques, and skills, everything that you learned in school pertaining to the case that you have. Just to follow what you know, and just be confident in what you do, and just don't be nervous.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Kevin. I worked with him for three years. He was just an amazing client. His family is just amazing people. We just had a great connection. And he really made me love the job that I do. I met him right out of school. So I was only on the field for maybe about a year before I met him. And I was with him ever since I've been a caregiver. So most of my caregiving experience has been with him. And everything that I've learned, or experienced new or old has been with Kevin. So he would have to be my most memorable client.
