Hi! My name is Alicia. I live in Azusa, CA and I have eight years experience as a caregiver.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I like working with people. I worked in the retail business during my young adult life, and just working with the elderly and sick ones just seems to keep me busy and just rewarding for me to help others.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be just treat everybody the way you would like to be treated in their situation. Help them with everything possible. I had a prior working with Alzheimer's, so you have to just let them be adjusted to you and make it easy for them, their daily routines.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is my last client that I had and I lost in March. Her name was Efimenia, and she had Alzheimer's, and she was a firecracker. She was very aggressive at first, but once she got to know me, she really enjoyed me and enjoyed looking forward to seeing me on a daily basis, Monday through Friday. And I know that I made her years great. And we got along well. She loved her coffee, and I'm going to miss her.
