Hi, my name is Alicia. I live in Corpus Christi, TX and I have been a caregiver for five years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because my grandmother had cancer and she end up passing away from it, but during her sickness, I cared for her, so that made me want to become a caregiver and help others.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be no matter your struggle, no matter what you're going through, always continue to fight.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client that I will never forget is Miss Hoaxter. She was 94 years old but very sharp, and I remember one of the first times doing her laundry. I folded all her clothes and hanged the one's that needed to be hanged up, and was done for the day. I left, but the next day I came in she had all the clothes unfolded, laid out, off the hanger, and I'm looking like I did something wrong. She set me down and showed me how to fold each one of them military style, so I now do that technique at home.
