Can you tell me a little about yourself and how you got into caregiving?
Hi, my name is Allison and I've been a caregiver for ten years and I live in Menlo Park. I became a caregiver because not knowing what to do. But after I get introduced about caregiver, what caring for people. I know I have a good personality and I like to talk to people, I love people so to speak. And I like to give my help and support to others. So that's the reason why I became a caregiver for ten years.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I never forget is Mrs. Spinops. Mrs. Spinops first came for her. She was the most caring and loving client that took me in her home. Even though I'm a caregiver for her she would teach me because when I first came here I didn't know much and she basically helped teach me a lot.
Tell us about your most challenging client.
The most challenging client is a lady, she had dementia. And whenever I go on the weekends to care for her she won't know me. So we would have a little first saying, "Who are you waiting here?" And then I would try to explain myself to her that I come to work for her for two hours to make sure she sleep. And make sure that she's clean.
What are your strengths as a caregiver?
What makes me the best caregiver is because my love for people. It doesn't matter what race you are just a good person. So this is about sickness and whenever there is a sickness in one's body, and they couldn't help care for themselves they need help and for me, I'm here to do so. I think my love and my attention.
