Hi! I am Alvin. I am living here in Elk Grove, CA, and I have 10 years experience.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because, when I was in grade three, my teacher's husband had a Parkinson's disease. I helped my teacher, when I get home, I helped her feed her husband. So, I have the compassion to do that now. Since I arrived here in United States, in 2003, I started working as a caregiver, until now.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to the new caregiver, is to be patient, be compassionate, attentiveness, dependability, and trustworthy.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is, my first client in Phoenix, AZ. This couple, they really treated me like their own kid. And, when I was moving to LA, they were almost crying, but I couldn't do anything. They talked to their kids about me, if they can do anything about my papers. They can't do anything, I have to get married. Then, after a year, I went back to them. They still miss me alot and love me. I found another caregiver for them that's better than me, because they did not really find a good caregiver.
