Hi, my name is Alycia. I live in Paramount, CA and I've been a CNA for five years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I like taking care of people. I like to work in the medical field. I've been doing that for five years. And I had my first job at an assisted living home, and I really, really loved it. It was the best first job I can have because it lead me to CNA and that helped to further my education.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to be patient, to be kind, to take care of them as you're taking care of your own loved one, to put yourself in their position and to see how you would want to be treated.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Cathy. Cathy was so sweet and so loving. I can't remember what she had, but she had a trache, so I wasn't able to hear her voice, so I called her cell phone, because I wanted to hear her voice, because she was just so, so kind and so grateful. And she wasn't angry. And she just had so much love for her children, and she was young. And I miss her, and she was my favorite.
