Hi, my name is Amanda. I live in Banning, CA and I've been a caregiver for nine years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because my mother was a caregiver and my sister. Growing up as a child and watching them go to work every day, it was something that I seemed to be interested in after I graduated high school. So in 2009, I became certified as a CNA and I've been in this field ever since.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to ask questions. If you don't know, it's always safe to ask first. Take one day at a time, one thing at a time. Don't rush yourself. Especially working wth a new client, you're trying to learn new things, so it's okay to take your time and take a breath and go slow.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is David. He was always nice and sweet, gentle. He had a great sense of humor. He talked to us about his war days. Every story that he told was full of life and I'll never forget him.
