Hi, my name is Amanda. I live in Salinas, CA and my years of experience about 12 to 15 years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I lost my dad about five years ago, and that made me feel I was in peace by doing that. So, it is very dear to me to know that I can help somebody.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to have a lot of patience. You must have patience in order to be a caregiver. A lot of times you will feel like this is not something you want to do, but it should come from the heart and it's something you want to do. And patience is always best to have.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Priscilla. She was 101 years old and she's still fruit of the tree. She was just so beautiful and loved by everybody. She was just amazing. I could never forget how she would just want to be so helpful and we'd do tasks together. We'd do gardening and I loved to help her because she was so full of life at 101. She made me feel like I had a long life to live too, and she was just a beautiful soul. She was an amazing lady and I will never forget her.
