Hi, my name is Ambur, I live in Sacramento, CA. I've been a HHA for five years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver, because it's a part of me. I'm loving and caring. My daughter was disabled, as well as my dad had a stroke, and my grandmother has Alzheimer's and I've been taking care of them. So, it's just a part of me.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to always put that client first. No matter what you're doing in the day, that client is more important than anything. Stay focused. There'll be some hard days, but just make sure that you come outpositive and you'll leave positive.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Miss Donna. She was amazing. She had a bad case of Alzheimer's and when I got there she was so down and didn't want to do anything. By the time that I left the house, she was okay, and doing things independently and on her own.
