Hi, my name is Andrea. I live in Woodland, CA and I've been a CNA for 10 years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a CNA because I love to help people. It's very nice when somebody says, "I love you. Thank you so much. God bless you." Those blessings for me are the best. I've been doing it for 10 years. I've been working for Cottonwood for secure rehab for nine years already. I used to taking care of a resident at his house for six months. I have a license in home health aid and RNA.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, to be patient and do your job with love because when you work with love, everything goes easy. The residents will feel great as well as the CNA.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Joanne. She used to give me advices all the time and was next to me when I was feeling sad, or when I was having a bad day at work. She always used to hug me and talk about God. She will make me feel better, everytime after the end of my shift, I will have come and say, "Joanne, I'm leaving. Have a good night." And she will say, "Good night. I love you." Until the day she died.
