Hi, my name is Angela. I've been a caregiver for 20 years, a certified nursing assistant, and I live in the City of Macon, GA.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because my mama was a foster parent for over 30-something years before she passed. So she inspired me to be a caregiver, to give people TLC, tender loving care. That's what inspired me, basically, my mama taking kids into her home and trying to raise them as one of her own. She gave them foster care.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice for a new caregiver would be, to have patience and be a companion to each individual that you go into their home or into their residence where they live, to always have patience, and be kind, and loving and understanding. Caregiving is not always easy. It's a challenge, but it's a reward too once you have made somebody else's day a better day for them.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is a lady named Miss Sharon. She was always kind and friendly. When I would arrive in her house she would be nice. She would ask me if there was anything I need and want. And I would let her know that I'm here to assist her. She always was so kind of trying to help people to help her. I will never forget that. She was a very kind person.
