Hi, my name is Angelica. I've been a CNA for five years in a nursing home. I live in Stockton, CA.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because my grandmother fell ill. She had dementia and a lot of other medical problems. I just wanted to make it as simple as possible for her to live comfortably.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, patience is key. Also, treat every patient as if they were your loved one and the way you would want to be treated.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget, her name was Betty. She was very ill. But you wouldn't imagine it, just because she was always very humorous. She would crack jokes all the time and try to make us happy with what we were doing. As a caregiver, it's very hard work, and she understood that. But she also appreciated it. I really do miss her because I grew to love her.
