Hi, my name is Anisha. I live in Oakland and I have been a caregiver for 9 years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because that is my passion and that is what I love doing; helping the elderly. I am trying to further my education as going as far as being a certified nursing assistant. I have been doing this for 9 years off-and-on and this is my passion and my love - serving the elderly.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver is to make sure that client is comfortable. The client always comes first. Make sure you listen and follow every detailed direction that a client wants you to do. If you want to be a caregiver, you should know caregiver safety always comes first.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
The client I will never forget, is a client that I was working for 4 years. He still calls me to this day to check on me and see how I am doing and I call him as well and do the same. Our bond is really strong, I am also very close with his family and friends. I think that is important, if you are going to be a part their lives, it is important that you get to know their families and friends as well.
