Hi, my name is Anne. I live in Fremont, CA and I have been a caregiver for 5 years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I love taking care of people. I had a personal experience with taking care of my brother, my father and think that it has become a vocation to me to taking care of people especially the old, and I enjoyed doing it.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to do the job as if she or he was doing it for herself, to treat people with love and respect as if he or she would want people to treat him, to give quality of life to people the way they would want it to be done to them. So, generally, my advices would be to show love to others so that that love would be shown onto you.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Mrs. I took care of her seven months ago. The last night I spent with her, I didn't know she would pass away in two hours. One thing she told me was, "You're a good woman. You treated me as if I were your mother. You took care of me as if I were your mother." And, surprisingly, after two hours, that lady passed away.
