Hi. My name is Ariel, and I live in San Jose, CA and I've been a caregiver for two years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because my mom was a caregiver for years, and seeing what she did and what she loved waking up to do, taking care of people was something that I thought I could do as well, that I can make someone's day by just helping them and being there for them.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be that being a caregiver can be challenging, but it does have its rewards. At the end, that honestly is the best job that you can have.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client that I would never forget is Michelle. Michelle always tried to outdo herself. So every day, we had to do different adventure stuff that she knew that would help her get better, and she always loved to dance. She loved to go out, she loved being in the community, which was great, because that helped me be out in the community as well. So we had that connection where we both wanted to just feel alive.
