Hi. My name is Artasia McFarland. I live in Martinez, Califonia and I have eight years of experience in caregiving.
How did you get into caregiving?
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
I became a caregiver because my great-grandparents were very ill. They couldn't afford the costs of a caregiver so I stepped up and took care of them and it continued after they passed.
My advice for a new caregiver would be to have patience, have compassion, be very loving and caring and just do everything you would do with your own grandmother or grandfather.Who is one of your most memorable clients?
The moment with a client that I would never forget was my last client before she went in the Convalescent Home. Her name was Marie. She was very loving and caring. Every time I would do something that reminded her of herself, she would always sit down and tell me a story about it. Or, how much she loved my bonnets because she used to wear them when she was younger and all those types of things. I miss her a lot.
