Hi, my name is Benjamin. I've been a caregiver for four years and I live in Carmicheal, CA.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I love working with people and I love meeting new people. And I always loved to take care of people because I was the only one who took care of a loved one when she passed. So I guess I love taking care of people.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, put yourself in the client's position. Give whatsoever you can give to a resident that you are taking care of and to make them feel that they are among the society and there's nothing else that can depress them. Always smile at them. Always call them by their name and do what you can to make them feel good and feel better.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is a client that always want you to be around them and sometimes depends on how well you talk to them, how well you make them feel at home. They always want you to be around them. Sometimes they even look for you from your supervisor or your manager for you to be around them because it's only you that can provide them comfort and only you can take care of them. These are the kind of clients, sometimes they don't want you to go away from them.
