Hi, my name is Bonnie. I stay in Vallejo, CA and I have 3 years of experience in home care.
How did you get into caregiving?
I want to be an in home care giver because I like to give back. A few years ago my auntie had to go into the hospital. She was diagnosed with breast cancer so she had to go through radiation and chemo. The chemotherapy and it caused a lot of her hair to fall out. Her appetite changed. She had to start eating healthier and they also amputated her breast so getting into the medical field is something I've always wanted to do and that just helped open up my eyes to it.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to be patient and pay attention and have good listening skills. I feel like those are the three most important things you have to have in order to be a successful caregiver.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client that I will never forget is Sharon and that's because she really didn't have nobody. Something tragic had happened to her and she lost her house and lost everything. So, we connected on a deeper level because I know what it's like to not have something. And we always had good times. We went out to lunch together and we always had good vibes.
