Hi, my name is Brandy. I'm in Fort Worth, TX and I have nine years of experience.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because my mom had been doing this for such a long time and the care for the elderly people just kind of stuck with me. I love working with the elderly and helping them. I love teaching them that they can be normal and they are normal.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to be patient, be considerable, just pretty much take your time and take your job seriously when working with these people that actually need the help. It's very challenging but if you're a very good worker, you have a plus attitude, you care for others, it's very simple.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client that I will never forget would be a Dementia client because the simple fact is they lose their memory. They're so sweet and they're so lovable. They lose their memory and they just need guidance. I remember when I was working with a lady that had dementia and she would always be back and forth, always want to know the days of the week. She was always forgetful but was always sweet, just always pretty much directed her.
