My name is Brenda and I live in Drive, Burbank. I have been a caregiver for the last 12 years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I have always enjoyed helping people. I think I can relate to the elderly since I'm already 70 years old. I've been caring for so many years and I just think that I have the patience, the understanding and the care for the elderly.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to be a caregiver is just to be patient, do not take things personally and remain to be friendly at all times. Be friendly, caring and try to have a good disposition at all times. Well, you think you can make a difference in one person's life? Then it's probably worth it.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I would never forget was a really sweet lady. We were all the time talking, telling stories about each other's families and on some occasions like my birthday, she just surprised me with a really nice ring that she said she won in a game in a bingo. She said that what she had in mind was just to give this pretty ring to me, because that's how close she is to me.
