Hi, my name is Brenda and I currently live in Upland, CA and I've been a caregiver for eight years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I've always had an interest in helping people. But I actually got a chance to be my dad's hospice caregiver during his last days of life, and to me, that was very rewarding. And that was just basically helped me made my final decision of pursuing my career as a caregiver and actually going to nursing school to help as many people as I could during my lifetime.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to always be patient, always put yourself in the person's shoes that you're helping, and no matter what, always be attentive, do all that you can to make that person comfortable, and just letting the person that you're caring for always know that you're there to help.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is my male client Bob. He was such an amazing person. I actually got a chance to work with him almost seven months, helping him and his wife do the daily needs as well as taking him to his law firm in Hollywood daily, and any needs that he had. And he was the most funniest man on earth. So, he would be a client that I would say I would never forget.
