Hi, my name is Briana. I live in Galt, CA and I have been a caregiver for 7 years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because it was the first step for me to eventually get my CNA and then from there go on to receive my RN.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be patience. Just have a bunch of patience with all of your clients as well as endless amounts of love and motivation for out clients. They need a lot of motivation, especially if they are in field nursing or in memory care to help them get by day to day. And that's where the love comes into because we need to let them know that we care about them.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I never will forget is Orville. He was in the memory care unit that I worked on and he was always so grateful for all the little things we would do for him. Bringing him or making sure his legs were elevated, making sure he got his snacks and was taking in a decent amount of water, and getting him dressed, and getting him his walker. He always made sure to let me know how much he appreciated my help.
