Hi, my name is Brisa and I live in San Diego, CA. I've been a caregiver for three years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because since I was younger I was interested in becoming a nurse. For me, having to help somebody, I do it with all my compassion. I do it gladly because I really enjoy helping others, and I know some day I will have to do it to my loved ones.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to treat others how you would like to be treated, and to always do it with a good heart because at the end of the times we always get treated how we treat others.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
The client I will never forget, her name was Nancy, and I really enjoyed being with her. I used to take care of her for like about a year. We used to go out, get her hair done, go for lunch, sometimes dinner. And we mostly stayed in her house and I cooked for her. I made her happy, gave her some good company, made her laugh because she was serious at times. I some way figured out to make her laugh, and she really liked me. She even told me she enjoyed me being there. Sadly she passed away like a month ago, so I will never forget her. It's really sad how you get attached to somebody.
