Hi, my name is Brittney. I live in San Jose, California, and I have been a caregiver for four years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver ever since I saw my grandmother declining in health, and I applied for a job doing caregiving, and I stuck with it ever since. It brought a lot of joy to my life, seeing them happy.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to treat them as you would treat your own family. To always put them first, and make sure they're okay at all times.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget would be Miss Hong. She had no legs, diabetes, tremors. And once I started working with her and showed her that she didn't need to have legs to be happy or anything. I took care of her. I made her food. And I would sit there and just talk to her, and she would love it. And I would tell her stories about my life, my family. And she was just always happy, and that made me happy in return. She brought joy to my life
