Can you tell me a little about yourself and how you got into caregiving?
I'm Celia, my friends call me Cecil, I live in San Bruno. I have 12 years experience in caregiving. I became a caregiver because I want to serve people, especially the elderly, who become independent in their usual thing. And I have a compassion to the elderly and I can say I'm very patient and I love my work as a caregiver.
What have you learned from your clients?
When working with people with dementia of the five people that I work with, they have different cooperative states. It depends there are some that are very jolly, there are some that are so very quiet, there so very fussy it depends upon the individual. But with the experience that I had, I got along with them.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
One of the clients that I work with almost three years. He is very unhygienic man, he doesn't want to change his diaper he wants only one diaper for the whole 24 hours. So I was able to convince him that he has not to do that because he will be infected - urine infection - and the more problem he's going to have.
What are your strengths as a caregiver?
Well, I think the people that I'm going to work with will like me because I'm dependable, I'm responsible, I'm patient, and I'm compassionate.
