Hi, my name is Chanee Denard. I currently live in Oakland, CA. I've been a caregiver for the past ten years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I like working with seniors, and I like helping out with others. I also became a caregiver because I was raised by my grandparents, who are now in their late days in age. I learned from taking care of them first. Then I went on to work with different patients in different facilities.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to take care of the patient, make sure you're assisting them with all of their daily needs, to listen to them, and to be very understanding and helpful.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is, Linda. I worked for her for four years. She had Parkinson's disease at a very young age. We used to read books, cook, eat, and go out and dine together. We also exercised and visited senior living facilities
