Hi, my name is Charmaine. I live in Marietta, GA and I've been doing CNA jobs for more than 15 years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I love people and I love the elderly. I love to help and my heart goes out for the elderly. I'm very attentive and I chose this job.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to put yourself in their position, be mindful, do not take them for granted and to just show attention because that's all they need. Care for them the best way you can.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Rita. She can be loveable at times and sometimes can be so argumentative, she'll tell you to "Get out of my house. I don't need you here. I don't need your help." But then I just assure her and tell her "I'm here for you. I'm not here to harm you. I'm here to assist you in whatever way you want me to, I won't touch your stuff. I'm just here to see that you're safe and that no one is here to harm."
