Hello, my name is Cheminique. I live in Orlando, FL. And I have two years of caregiving experience.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because my mom was one. She was a CNA for many years and I learned from her. I was able to go and work with her a little bit hands on. So, that pushed me to become one.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, be very passionate, be very friendly, be very caring, pay attention to detail. Detail is very important. And just mingle, make it your home, make it someone like how would you treat someone in your family.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Dodge. He was autistic, he was ADHD. He was very loveable. He taught me a lot of things. He was 17 and he graduated from school early. Very, very smart kid. And I always remember he used to come to me and, "Hey, Miss Cheminique," and he would give me a hug. He wouldn't talk to anybody else but me. He wouldn't let no one else help him but me, and when he graduated, he came and he saw me, and we went to have a nice dinner. He moved on and went to college. And he's just one of my client that I would never forget.
