Can you tell me a little about yourself and how you got into caregiving?
My name is Cherelle. I'm from Pittsburg, California. I've been a caregiver for almost seven years.
What inspired you to become a caregiver?
What inspired me to become a caregiver was I was helping my mom and my granny almost my whole life, and I love helping others. Caring for my mom and my grandmom was my whole life. I helped them get around, go on shopping sprees, take them places. I helped my granny change her bath hair, my mom with her medicine and everything.
What piece of advice would you give to a new caregiver?
What is your proudest moment as a caregiver?
A piece of advice for a new caregiver would be to always be patient. Because working with elderly, it takes time. Can't just move fast at your pace because not [inaudible]. What I think makes me a good caregiver is I'm loving, caring, and I'm always helpful to others. I listen well, and I don't mind doing anything to help.
What makes me proud to be a caregiver is I get to help people be happy and smile and not have to really be depressed all the time.
