Hi, my name is Chris. I'm from Santa Barbara, CA and I have been a caregiver for 14 years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I really enjoy being with people. I consider myself a people person. I like talking to people and I like helping people, and it just seemed like it was a perfect fit to be a caregiver, for me and my personality.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be that sometimes it can be really hard work and sometimes you might lose your patience, and that can be really difficult and heartbreaking, but it's a very rewarding job. I cannot think of any other job where you feel more appreciated for what you do to help people and you really do learn a lot about yourself, and it's a really great job.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Sheila. Sheila was so full of life and she had a wonderful sense of humor, and nothing ever got her down. She could spill a cup of coffee and laugh about it. She was just very, very kind and very warm, and I miss her to this day.
