Hi, my name is Christina. I live in Gardena, CA and I've been a caregiver for seven years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I really enjoy helping people with dementia, Alzheimer's. I really feel happy at the end of the day that I was able to help them.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, be as patient as you can and treat them as if they were your own family and love them dearly.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is the one in the facility that I worked at. He recently passed away. Whenever I think of him, I think of how I would always have a great day with him, even though he was a wanderer. He would try to leave and he was confused. He would go to the bank, try to open a new bank account. But he was just so confused. But he was so loving and as soon as I would bring him in and distract him with some coffee or tea, he would calm down. But I always remember that about him. He always wanted to leave, to go open a bank account. Or he said he needed to go to work because he used to own his own liquor store. Yeah, that's what will come to my mind.
