Hi, my name is Christina. I live from Pittsburg, CA. I have two years experience as a caregiver.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver to help with my father's deteriorating health. It was a mild stroke about two years ago, as well as my mother, who had a quadruple bypass.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to not take anything that they say to you personally. As they are dealing with deteriorating mindset, a lot of times, dementia. And that's what I would say. Just don't take it personally.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Carl. He was so excited to have me come to his apartment one day, just to help fix his phone, that we made a date every day at the same time to just chit-chat for an hour, regardless of whether or not his phone needed service. And he would look forward to my coming every day, and I did as well.
