Hi! My name is Christine. I live in San Diego, CA. I've been a caregiver for three years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I've been working with the Sudanese community for more than five years. I love working with people. I love helping, help them around, take them out to their appointments and everything like the welfare and all this. So I enjoy doing that. That's why I become a caregiver.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a caregiver would be don't take the job because of the money because money's not everything. If you don't love to be around people, that's not the place for you. You have to have something inside that is pushing you to be around and to help them. Not because of money, because of what you enjoy doing it.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client that I'll never forget is Patricia. I've been working for her for almost a year now. I took her like one of my family member. And I don't do it because I want them to pay me and all this. I just do it, I take her like one of my family member, like my own mother. So it was great working with her, helping her around.
