Hello, my name is Claire. I live in Corpus Christi, TX. And I have been a Certified Nursing Assistant for 20 years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I love taking care of people. My mother is 90 years old. And I've taken care of her before. And I have a lot of compassion for the elderly. And I love cleaning, and cooking, and doing laundry, and caring for people.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be listen to what people are saying. And be very patient and kind. And be honest if you have a problem with a person. Be sure to tell them. And just always be very kind and compassionate towards them.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client that I will never forget is a young woman that had multiple sclerosis. She was formerly a TV news reporter. And she was confined to a bed. And she always remembered everybody's birthday that she came in contact with. And she had a book with all their birthdates. And she would call them, no matter if she wasn't feeling well. And I thought that was just such a wonderful thing to do, such an uplifting thing to do because her situation wasn't good. And she was very kind and she thought of other people first before herself.
