Hi, my name is Connie. I live in San Jose and I've been a caregiver for ten years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver to care for my mom. She was diagnosed with dementia and other various medical conditions. I took care of her for a very long time - ten years. I found the need to care for the elderly because of her. It's like a tribute, I think, to her.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a caregiver would be to have patience, you need to be compassionate, and you need to be very understanding.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Celia. She was 100 years old and she was very vibrant, very smart, and a joy to work with.
