Can you tell me a little about yourself and how you got into caregiving?
Hello. I'm Corazon. I go by Binky. And I live in Santa Fe, and I've been a caregiver for 23 years. I became a caregiver when I started working with people with disabilities in our office, and I found out that I'm really-- I have a passion for caring for people. And that's when I started being a caregiver.
What type of care do you provide?
As a caregiver, I work with different kinds of people, and I had a patient that had a stroke, Alzheimer's, a diabetic, and cerebral palsy, and so a lot of different kinds of diseases that I was able to help them out.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
This lady that was 96 years old, she really don't have any problem, but she have glaucoma and was becoming very hard to see. And we always just talk, company, and then we go out, and I always assist her when she needed help. But actually, she really don't need anybody if she can only see. She's very mobile, but I always make sure that when I'm with her, that I'm always on her side, just to make sure she won't fall. Since I'm there, I'm giving her comfortable service, and we always laugh together.
What are your strengths as a caregiver?
People tell me I'm a good caregiver because I always make sure that I give the best care they need, and I make them laugh. They told me that I'm their sunshine because I bring sunshine when I come into their door.
