Hi, my name is Cristobal and I live in the city of Homeland, CA and I've been doing caregiving for the last 18 years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I got very, very close to the people that I took care of and I cared for them. That covers 15 years there.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver
My advice to a new caregiver would be, to be honest with the person you're taking care of and that way you would have their trust and you can get along with them better than any other way.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget, he was 99 years old and he was about to die and he knew about it. And since his age was already 99 years old, they wouldn't be able to operate. He had a problem with his foot and they wouldn't operate on it. And the first thing he told me after I took him home from the hospital, he told me, "Chris, when I go to heaven, I want to save a spot for you." I could never forget that. He was a very, very, very kind man and the way he responded with that answer just got to me.
