Hi, my name Crystal. I'm from Columbus, GA and I've been a caregiver for 12 years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because my sister was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago and I had to take care of her. After that, taking care of her made me know that caregiving is something I would want to do.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, if you don't have the heart for what you're doing then don't even get in this field. You have to take care of a person like you're taking care of your grandfather or your mother, or your father, or whoever. So if you don't have the heart then this job is not for you.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Billy. He and I had a good time together. When I came to work, he always put a smile on my face. I can be down and he'll bring me up and we will sit down. We'll have so many good conversations together. Overall, he was like one of the best patients I had and when I wasn't there for work, he wanted me to be his caregiver.
