Hi, my name is Crystal. I live in Gilroy, CA and I have about two and a half years experience as a caregiver.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I have taken care of my grandpa who has the early stages of Alzheimer's and also my father-in-law when he was alive at the time. He fell and broke his hip and I was his caregiver. So due to those two situations that made me realize that I like doing that type of job field.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be you definitely need to have patience in this job field. Be caring and loving, and understanding. And just treat them as if they were your own family member.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client that I will never forget would be Lupe. She is a big part of my life. I was with her for about a year and a half and we definitely got to know each other very well. She basically called my kids her grandkids and she said I was like her daughter. She was my firecracker, I would call her, because she was funny, but at the same time, she had a little bit of fire to her. She always gave me positive good advice and I will always remember her. She was just such a lovely lady.
