Hi, my name is Cynthia. I live in Garden Grove, CA and I've been a caregiver for eight years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I used to see and I used to help my mom watched over my uncle that has down syndrome. And I enjoyed doing that and after that, I started working with adults with disabilities in a day program. Then I started working in a group home and that's where I got all my caregiving experience. I got to work in assisted living and I like what I do.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, to be patient. Learn the dislikes and likes of your client and get to know them as much as possible. Be friendly and give them their space when it's needed.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is the one that I worked with in assisted living. She needed a lot of assistance and I learned so much from her and I could just never forget about her.
