Hi, my name is Dajon. I live in Antioch, California, and I've been a caregiver for four years now.
How did you get into caregiving?
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
I became a caregiver because my grandpa actually has cancer and he's in his last stages. And I've experienced that and see that with the things he goes through, I just want to care for others and I don't want to have anyone be left alone during those states on their last days.
My advice to a new caregiver would be to just be patient and do the right thing, and if it doesn't feel right then it isn't most likely right.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I'll never forget is Bernard. He was very loving, joyful, talkative. He didn't care what time it was. He would just call, "Lady girl, you know I have to do this? Or can you help me?" Because he just said that he called me his granddaughter. He's just very funny, the comedian of the house, and I will never forget him and I actually miss him to this day.
