Hi, my name is Dana. I live in Dallas, TX and I have been a caregiver for six years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because my mom, my grandmother and my son were all caregivers and CNA. At the age of ten, I had to take care of my grandmother because she got sick. I love people and I care for people. So I think caregiving was a great profession.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to be respectful, responsible, make sure you love what you do, to love and care because that's what being a caregiver is about. Make sure that you always do your job and you won't have any problem.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget was Ms. Nameky. She was so sweet and always had a smile on her face. In my case, she was always helpful when it was time to care for her and I just loved being in the atmosphere, being in an environmental place. I woke up ready to go to work just so that I could get some encouraging words from this lady. She was the sweetest lady ever.
