Hi, my name is Daniel. I live in Suisun City, CA and I've been working as a caregiver for 5 years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I love people. I love helping elderly people who are not capable to do stuff anymore. And then I been working in this area for five years. I started with my grandma. She passed away three years ago. Then I loved this area and I want to keep doing what I'm doing and helping people.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My best advice for a caregiver will be is to make sure you do your job. You do your task very well and take care of your client. Take care of the patient. Just do it like this its your family. This is your mom. This is your dad. This is your son. This is your cousin. This someone would cheer for you because the people not capable to do anything. But you here to do stuff they can't do. You have to pull up your power, your energy, everything to make them happy, to make them feel they still have life. They still are human.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
The client I'll never forget is Graham. My responsibility was to take him into his coat every morning. Give him a few medicines every day. Laughing at me, telling me he loves me. Everything, wow. I can't forget that. I love him.
