Hi, my name is Danielle Greer, and I live in Fort Worth, Texas and I've been a caregiver for three years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I love to provide home caregiving for those that are not able to do so. I love to see their smile on their face, it's overwhelming to me. It makes me feel good when I know I can do something good to help another person achieve something that they feel that they can't do. When I'm there I can give them that pleasure to show them that they can do and be that person that they were before.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
The advice I would give to another caregiver is to be very understanding and understand that they didn't put their self there. Stuff happens after we get older, and put themselves in their shoes and see how they would feel if they were them. Be understanding, not rude, be kind, courteous, and just be a loving person.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
The client I will never forget is a man I used to take care of named Gene. He was the funniest man alive. He had a heart of gold I'll tell you that, because even though he was through the process that feeling like he's not going to be able to get back to his normal life, but he didn't let that get to him, he still laughed, he still had his jokes, we was a character and he was funny. I enjoyed him, he was a wonderful man. He died, but he was wonderful.
