Hi my name is Dario and I live in American Canyon, CA and I do have 15 years' experience as a caregiver.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver in order to make a difference in people life. When the family member is absent, unable to provide, to be there for them and I become a part of the family. That's how I become a caregiver.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver is to focus on the client need and most important to focus on their own need and also you have to have a heart in caregiving to be a caregiver. Nothing else. To become a good caregiver, you have to have a heart and desire to care for other people and focus on their need. That's essential.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is a client that I worked with. His name is August Mann and we shared common interests in art and fine art. We also shared idea that Cummings was a very nice man. He taught me how to cook well and then I taught him how to exercise and work and think about other things instead of thinking about his illness. We shared. We talked together. So that's the client I will never forget.
