Hi! My name is Dario. I live in Burleson, TX and I've been a home caregiver for six years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because, a very good friend of mine became ill and was no longer able to function on her own, and I became her right hand man, so to speak, to help her in all things that she needed help with.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, just know that the person you're helping was able at one time, and in their mind, they are 100% who they are, and you must give them the respect that they deserve, even when they're having a bad day. Because everybody has bad days, and you have to be able to understand that some days, they're not as happy with their situation as other days.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Theresa. She is always bubbly, even on some bad days, and on great days, when she's able to do a little more, she is uplifted by my camaraderie with her, and just the interaction that we have with each other. And I love bringing a smile to her face, just to make her day go by better, and make it easier for her.
