Hi, my name is DeAsha. I live in Antioch, CA and I've been a caregiver for 13 years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I started off as taking care of a loved one, and from there I was more interested into it. And I also have a passion for helping people.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, it can be challenging, so if you're open to a challenge, then go for it.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget: she was someone that was demented, but still knew all that she has been through and about her past. She's a veteran, and I developed a strong bond with her. We would sit and have talks, and whenever she was very agitated and had anxiety, I sat and held her hand. And not only was I the first one that she woke up to, but I was the last one that she was with when she took her last breath. Her last words was, "Thank you for everything, and I love you."
