Hi, my name is Diamond. I live in Fairfield, CA and I've been working as a caregiver for 4 years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because my grandmother got sick, and she came to live with us, and I cared for her. I fed her. I bathed her. I helped her to the restroom. I read with her, sat with her, did her hair, and that's what inspired me to do caregiving.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to have the patience and have the heart to care for an elderly person. That is very important when working in a medical field.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client that I will never forget is Maryann. She lived in a nursing home, and we had a dance. And she's a shy, shy, sweet lady, and I encouraged her to go down to the dance. So we went down, and she wanted to dance, so we got up and we danced and was going around. It was so amazing to see that bright smile on her face. She had so much fun.
