Hi, my name is Donna. I live in La Habra, CA and I have 10 years of experience as a caregiver.

How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I was taking care of my grandmother who was ill, and I was just trying to make it comfortable for her, and once I did that, I found out I had a passion working with people and making their life better in any way possible.

What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, you have to have patience when you're working with the elderly, and you got to have time and be caring. You can't rush them. It's important to talk to them clearly and slowly and have patience and just try to be there for them.

Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Christina. She's 98 at the moment. When I first met her, she was in her early 90s and her husband was alive too. He was like in his late 90s going on 100. I worked with them for a while, and I enjoyed working with them because when I prepared lunch, he wanted to come in the kitchen and helped me fix lunch, and I said, "No, sit down," and they enjoyed watching me do it. If I would do stuff around the house, they wanted me to come and sit down and watched tennis. I really enjoyed working with them, and it was a really warm feeling because they treated me just like family, and that was a real plus.
